Waco NC12449 landed at Tucson either April 21 or 22, 1932
flown by Martie
Bowman (date inferred
from the Register, as she did not cite her arrival
date or time). Based in Los
Angeles, CA she was
westbound from El Paso, TX to Los Angeles. She was in a flight
of two. The other airplane, Waco UEC NC12456, was flown by
her husband, Les
Bowman. An image of 12456, Les and Martie is available
at Les' link.
NC12449 is still registered with the
FAA. It bears S/N 3600 and it was manufactured in 1932.
Another photo of it is available on p. 227 of Juptner vol.
5 (REFERENCES). Martie
and Les were probably delivering their airplanes from the
factory in Troy, OH to Los Angeles. At the time NC12449 was
owned by Waco dealer Troy Flying Service, Oakland, CA.
