CONSOLIDATED FLEETSTER Model 17, NC700V

This airplane landed once at Tuscon, between December 16-18, 1931. Pilot William Wheatley didn't cite an exact date or itinerary. Based at Buffalo, NY, he carried a single passenger, Lawrence D. Bell. Passenger Bell, a prolific inventor and entrepreneur, was later the founder of Bell Aircraft in Buffalo. And if that wasn't enough, Consolidated Aircraft was founded by one of our Davis-Monthan Register pilots, Ruben Fleet. This photo appears to be the same one as at aerofiles.com.

Note that it is identified in the lower left corner as a "Lockheed" Fleetster, an error. Note the difference in the paint schemes between the images above and below.

This airplane was converted to a Y1C-22 for Army use. It was flown at various times by Register pilot F. Trubee Davison. NC700V also appeared in the Peterson Field Register, Colorado Springs, CO flown by Paul Snick. He landed sometime between March 4 and March 16, 1932. The airplane was owned by Consolidated at that time. It was also recorded in the Clover Field Register, Santa Monica, CA on Friday, March 6, 1936. It was flown by Wheatley.
